Convert Fonts to Objects

If you need an entire font converted to vector or raster objects, check out FontPestle. This handy app ($4.99, Mac App Store) exports every character from an OpenType or TrueType font to individual objects in PDF, PNG, TIFF, or GIF formats.

The app even includes 10 symbol fonts for you to convert as a starting point. Before exporting, you can customize fill, stroke, and background, and the resulting files can be shared with others from within the app.
