LaCie’s 4TB “Blade Runner” Hard Drive
LaCie’s Blade Runner is a limited-edition 4TB hard drive ($300, or $289 at Amazon) designed by Philippe Starck.
It has an organically-shaped enclosure “designed to help keep the drive cooler” and a USB 3.0 interface for faster data transfer speeds. It also supports USB 2.0, but it doesn’t include FireWire or Thunderbolt ports.
Jay Nelson is the editorial director of PlanetQuark.com, and the editor and publisher of Design Tools Monthly. He’s also the author of the QuarkXPress 8 and QuarkXPress 7 training titles at Lynda.com, as well as the training videos Quark includes in the box with QuarkXPress 7 . In addition, Jay writes regularly for Macworld and Photoshop User magazines and speaks at industry events.
Love LaCie’s drives, but without Firewire I won’t touch it.
