North Atlantic Publishing Systems’ CopyFlow Gold ($495) is an XTension for QuarkXPress and a plug-in for InDesign or Illustrator that automates importing and exporting text and pictures in layouts.

To use it, you manually or automatically label each text box you want to export and CopyFlow exports all the text into one text file, with or without formatting. If you make changes to the exported text, you can choose to import the text back into the page layout and all the boxes are updated.

The QuarkXPress version also exports pictures, either in high resolution or screen resolution, while the InDesign version supports batch processing of multiple files at once.
