QuarkXPress 9.0.1 Update Fixes Bugs

Quark has released an update to QuarkXPress 9, bringing it to version 9.0.1. This maintenance release fixes bugs in several areas, including problems exporting PDFs when using TrueType or OpenType fonts, previews of imported PDF, EPS or AI files, conditional styles, callouts, text indents in non-rectangular boxes, and more.

Quark has posted a list of resolved and unresolved issues here.

Some of the bugs that haven’t yet been fixed include: font issues when exporting to PDF or PostScript, darker previews of PDF, EPS and AI files, importing .swf files, various problems when exporting to Blio and EPUB formats, clipping paths from legacy files, charts imported from Excel, compressed TIFF files, multiple-level numbering in impored RTF files, numbering styles imported from Word, and several others.

The update (754 MB Mac; 544 MB Windows) is available as a download at http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads. (I tried using the Quark Update feature by choosing Check for Updates from the Help menu in QuarkXPress 9, but it said that my version 9.0 was already up to date. Perhaps you’ll have better luck!)

Note: QuarkXPress 9.0.1 isn’t certified for use on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), but Quark says that later this month they’ll release version 9.1, which will be certified for Lion.

Below is Quark’s official press release on the update:
