Another professional font managing utility has added support for QuarkXPress 9: Insider Software’s FontAgent Pro 4.2. In addition, the developer claims that FontAgent Pro works properly in Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and uses a “FontSavant” technology to identify the exact font used in a document before auto-activating it. They also have a version for Windows users.
Have a look at their press release below for further details.
July 18, 2011 [San Jose, Calif] – Insider Software today announced the immediate availability of FontAgent Pro 4.2 for Macintosh, which is ready for the Mac OS X 10.7 Lion operating system and includes auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe CS5.5, 5.5.1 and QuarkXPress 9.
The First Lion-Ready Font Manager
FontAgent Pro 4.2 provides full support for Mac OS X 10.7, Apple’s newest version of the Macintosh operating system. Users can migrate to the new Lion OS with confidence that FontAgent Pro will make the transition seamless.
Unrivaled Auto-Activation Precision in Adobe CS 5.5 and Quark 9
Built on Insider’s unique FontSavant™ technology, the 4.2 release includes Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 and QuarkXPress 9 plug-ins that ensure FontAgent Pro always selects the correct font for design documents–not just a close match or one that has the same name.
The updated plug-ins support both CS 5.5 and the recent Creative Suite 5.5.1 update, and are available for installation using the Install Plug-ins/Xtensions manager in the FontAgent Pro pull-down menu.
FontAgent Pro provides full control over the auto-activation process. It detects subtle differences among fonts to deliver the most accurate font activation possible. When no installed fonts match one required by a document, it provides a list of alternate available fonts–with a relevancy ranking that shows how closely they match the font requested by the document–so designers can choose the best font. FontAgent Pro also permits automatic activation of a preferred font format (e.g., Type 1, OpenType, TrueType) so no user intervention is required.
Pricing, Availability and Upgrades
FontAgent Pro 4.2 for Mac is free to users who have already licensed FontAgent Pro 4 or who have current support and maintenance agreements. The product upgrade price is USD $49.95 for registered users of FontAgent Pro 3 and earlier, and is USD $99.95 for new purchasers. The edition of FontAgent Pro that connects to FontAgent Pro Server is $129.95 per user. Quantity discounts and cross-grades from competitive products are available.
