Managing & Leading Creatives, Creatively
Miami International University of Art & Design
The successful leadership of creative teams — from mom-and-pop shops and small franchises, to large corporations and creative holding companies — is vital in today’s ever-flattening marketplace. It is often the difference between success and failure in an incredibly small and crowded world.
Taking into account various skill and mindsets, as well as demographic and educational factors, hear the real life “war stories” of two successful, creative managers, and what they did (and would have done) to promote unified initiatives for agencies and clients in both the for-profit and not-for-profits realms.
Jerry Johnson, Chair of the Design & Media Management masters program at Miami International University, along with Marcela Iannini, Faculty and Facilitator at The Art Institute of Tampa, will share case studies representing “teachable moments” from their many years in the creative industry.
The two will speak frankly of their experience in situations specific to the integration of creative teams and management strategies into the broader business mentality. Participants will be introduced to management concepts shaped by understanding the creative process and the difficult tasks of creative valuation and evaluation. Participants will also take home a toolkit of ways to empower creative leadership within their organizations.
