Kill PasteBoard XT
Markzware’s $29 PasteBoard XT is tremendously useful when you need to increase the space above and below your QuarkXPress pages while working on them.
However, the very first version of it, way back in the QuarkXPress 3 era, wrote code into each document requiring the XTension to be present when re-opening the document. Some of those documents are still floating around, so it’s handy to have Markzware’s free Kill PasteBoard XT for QuarkXPress 6, 7, 8 and 9.
With this XTension installed, any document you open that requires PasteBoard will have that requirement removed when you resave the document.

Hi, I have Quark 9 and need to open a couple of older quark files that have Pasteboard XT – since Kill Pasteboard XT only goes up to Quark 8 – any suggestions?
thanks!
Nancy
Nancy: you shouldn’t have any trouble opening those files, unless they were created in the 1990s, using the very first version of Pasteboard XT in QuarkXPress 3.
Have you tried opening them?
I have exactly that—a document from 1998 which I can’t open in Quark 9.
Michael: If you have any previous version of QuarkXPress, you could get the Kill PasteBoard XT and open your affected files, then re-save them. Would that work for you?
I have same prob. Old Quark files (old Quark version won’t open in Intel Mac) and Quark 9. Anyone have luck???
Is there a version in sight for Quark 9
Christian: I just checked with Markzware, and they’ve released a FREE version for QuarkXPress 9, as well as for earlier versions! Being free, it’s unsupported — so user beware… Here’s the link:

This is a dead link.

Is there a diff location to find this fix?
Hi Ralph, the new QuarkXPress Document Converter 1.1 can remove the reference to the Pasteboard XT: http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads/Details.aspx?fid=289
