QuarkXPress offers an easy way to create a grid of boxes and/or guides. First, create a box the size of the perimeter of the grid you want to create. (For a full page, make a box the size of the page. To divide the active area of the page, make a box that fits to the margins.)
Under the script-shaped menu, choose Grid> By Dividing a Box….
Enter the number of rows and columns you want, and any desired gutter widths.
It will then create boxes to fill the grid and then ask if you want guides around the boxes. If you click the Yes button, a grid of guides will be created.
You can then delete the boxes if you don’t need them, leaving a grid exactly the way you want it.
These scripts menu is only available on Macs.
