You can add a scan to an existing PDF the moment you scan it: just click the Append radio button in the Acrobat Scan dialog box (File> Create PDF> From Scanner).
This trick can be useful when scanning receipts that need to be added to an invoice, or when you need to add other supporting documentation to a PDF project.
