In QuarkXPress 8, you can toggle between viewing a page and viewing the Master Page it’s based on. Just click the little icon at the bottom of the project window, to the left of the horizontal scroll bar.
View Master Page icon in the lower left corner of your project window.
But here’s a trick to work on the Master Page and see its results on the document page: just open a new window or split the current window, and change one to Master Page view. To do that, choose Window> New Window or Window> Split Window (or click one of the Split View buttons next to the horizontal scroll bar) and then change the view of one of the windows to Master Page.
Split the window into two panes.
As you make changes to the Master Page, the document page will update.
