Rescue Corrupted InDesign Documents by Opening Them in QuarkXPress
Dave at GraphicStart.com points out an interesting case, Corrupted InDesign Doc- fix it with QuarkXPress!, where a corrupted InDesign document is rescued by opening it into QuarkXPress. The resulting QuarkXPress document is then opened by InDesign.
This technique relies on Markzware’s ID2Q to open the InDesign document in QuarkXPress, and Markzware’s Q2ID to open it again in InDesign.
He even includes a brief video that shows the process working. Clever!
Jay Nelson is the editorial director of PlanetQuark.com, and the editor and publisher of Design Tools Monthly. He’s also the author of the QuarkXPress 8 and QuarkXPress 7 training titles at Lynda.com, as well as the training videos Quark includes in the box with QuarkXPress 7 . In addition, Jay writes regularly for Macworld and Photoshop User magazines and speaks at industry events.
This will also work the other way too. If you have a corrupted Quark file, open it ID with Q2ID.
It is pretty funny how useful it is to have both programs.
