Sort a List of Items
I love useful, free XTensions. That’s why I’m really happy to announce that Durant Software’s free Sort Text is now available for QuarkXPress 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 for both Mac and Windows.
Durrant Software has been writing professional XTensions for more than 16 years, and every so often they release a useful free XTension as a service to the QuarkXPress community (and as a marketing tool, of course).
I’ve relied on this particular free XTension for many, many years to alphabetically sort lines of text. It will arrange any selection of up to 5,000 paragraphs in ascending order, and is intelligent enough to sort numbered paragraphs correctly.
It has never caused a problem for me in any way, and it has a very light footprint. I keep it loaded all the time, for those moments when I just need to put a list of items in alphabetical order. It’s surprising how often that comes up…
And while you’re there, check out their other free XTensions, including Append Hyphenation Exceptions, Break Picture Links, ProVJ, and others.

Don’t forget the ultracool Step and Repeat Default
Indeed! At the moment, it works with QuarkXPress version 6.5 and earlier, but I understand they’re working on an update for version 7 to be released really soon.
