To move an item to another layer, select the item and then drag its icon on the Layers palette from one layer to another.
To copy an object from one layer to another, select it and then hold down the Control key (on Mac and Windows) while dragging the item’s icon on the Layers palette from the active layer to another layer. You can also duplicate multiple items, as long as they are on the same layer.
