To avoid having your scanner pick up text from the back side of the paper you’re scanning (this is called ghosting, or show-through), place a sheet of black paper behind the paper you’re scanning. An Easy Way to Determine the Size of an Image on a Web Page

Here’s a quick way for Mac users to save an image from a website, and determine its exact dimensions: just drag it directly from the Web page onto the Preview application icon in your Dock.
