The New/Old Bézier Pen Tools!

Discovering the Bézier pen tool in QuarkXPress often elicits a gigantic surprise to even longtime QuarkXPress users. It was introduced way back in QuarkXPress 4, with its own set of logical controls and key commands.

For the interface redesign in QuarkXPress 8, Quark changed the Bézier pen tool to work just like Adobe Illustrator’s pen tool. Note that it also includes a Freehand scribble tool, so you can draw a path as if you were using a pencil:

    How do you make an irregular (but straight-sided) box? Looks like that simple tool is now permanently GONE. After several years now, I still prefer Quark 6 – by far.

    Fred: Quark’s pen tool works just like Illustrator’s pen tool. To make a box like you described, just click-click-click. Each click will be the endpoint of a straight segment.
