Learn, Tip

Here’s how to split a chain of linked text boxes in QuarkXPress, while maintaining the text that’s already in each box:
Select a several linked text boxes. Under the script-shaped menu, choose Stories> Unlink Selected Boxes.

If you have QuarkXPress 7 and Quark’s free Quark XPert Tools Pro, use the TextLink palette (Window> TextLink). Just select all the text boxes and click the bottom center button. All the boxes are now unlinked and they retain their text.

TextLink is just one of the 15 handy XTensions included in Quark XPert Tools Pro, available as a free download from their website.

I have been using TextLink in the XPert tools for years to unlink the pages of my document while keeping my formatting. I’ve upgraded to Quark 8 and I can’t find anything like this in the upgrade. There’s no longer an XTension to unlink pages. HELP!
