Change Your Text Defaults!

Tip

In U&lc Online, Ilene Strizver wrote a helpful article about changing the default text settings in QuarkXPress and InDesign. I think her recommendations are terrific.

One addition I would make to her story is to suggest that you change the default Small Caps setting in QuarkXPress from to 85% high and 95% wide. This makes them look slightly thicker, more closely matching the weight of the tall caps. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. You can change those defaults under QuarkXPress> Preferences> Document> Character (Mac) or File> Preferences> Document> Character (Win).
