I have recently been nudged towards working in InDesign for a client because I work alongside another agency who have already migrated.

Though this has been relatively painless, save for getting used to a change in key commands after 15 years working in Quark, I REALLY miss the Kerning Table Edit function.

I'm now embarking on manually kerning all the pound signs and 1s etc, on about 2,000 price tickets, which in Quark were taken care of in one simple edit to the Kerning Pairs table.

What a drag.

I'm not sure why creating a "character-space" pair would be bad. In our case, we didn't like the way the font handled the space between words; they appeared too tight or smashed together. Sometimes, it read like one word. By creating "character-space" pairs, we were able to increase the space between words and eliminate any confusion for the reader.
Can you please explain what trouble a "character-space" pair would cause.
Thanks.

Hello All

I have a serious doubt about kern table. When i open an document i find fonts which are not used in the document are also listed. Where do they come from or is there an issue in my Quark installation?

I feel nervous seeing many fonts in the kern table listing!!

thanks in advance
